Enough about you, let’s revisit my glory days.

A theatrical firecracker, Master Class brings Maria Callas back to life in all her temperamental, tempestuous glory. Inspired by a series of master classes the great diva conducted toward the end of her career, she coaxes, prods, and inspires students into giving the performances of their lives while revealing details about her own. As she slips off into memories, we experience her fierce hatred of her rivals, her triumphs at La Scala and her affair with Aristotle Onassis. But the dazzling theatricality comes from Callas‘s emotional explosions, her cutting wit and the soaring music as each student sings an aria that exposes La Divina‘s vulnerabilities…

Master Class ist ein theatrales Feuerwerk auf kleinstem Raum, in dem die Opern-Diva Maria Callas in „Sturm und Drang” aufersteht. Inspiriert durch eine Serie von „master classes“, die sie gegen Ende ihrer Karriere gab, schwätzt, stichelt und inspiriert „die Callas“ ihre Schüler zur „Vorstellung ihres Lebens“ und gibt dabei ihr eigenes Leben preis. Während sie in Ihre Erinnerungen abtaucht, erleben wir ihren Hass auf ihre Rivalinnen, ihre Triumphe an der Scala und ihre Affäre mit Aristoteles Onassis. Die emotionalen Ausbrüche der Callas, ihr Witz und die Musik treiben das Stück voran, während die Arien der Schüler die Verletzlichkeit und das Genie der Diva belegen.
